In this type of plastination, the serial sections of cadaver are prepared and plastinated during a special process. Diameter of these serial sections plates varies from a few millimeters to a few centimeters. In the case of difficult education of unavailable specimens, these type of plastinated specimens are useful for easy spatial understanding of body components (such as head or brain). Also, the relationship among the anatomical elements which are not easily understood in a 3D view can be educated in serial-section models in various fields of medicine including radiology and neurosurgery. The production stages of these models differ from 3D models such as dehydration and saturation.

To create blood vessel configurations, the polymers are injected directly into the vessels and cured exactly. Then, the extra tissues are removed by the chemical agents. Apart from academic and educational purposes, these models can be utilized in life science fairs.
